Calendar of Events
Our interactive calendar allows you to schedule boating-related events and publish them to all PassageMaker.com users. To add a new event, click "Submit New Event" on the navigation bar to the left. You can also click the different calendar view modes to see more or less detail. You MUST be logged in to submit a new event.
When viewing our calendar in Year mode, days with scheduled events are in boldface type. You can click the « or » buttons to move between years and click the name of a month to quickly zoom in to Month view. Clicking a day will bring you to Day view.
Month mode provides a more detailed view of our calendar. Days with events scheduled will state the number of things going on that day (e.g. "2 Events"). Click the « or » buttons to switch to the previous or next month, and click a day's box to zoom in to Day view.
Week mode lists individual event names and descriptions. To sign up for an event on a particular day or to view more options, click on a day in Week view to zoom in to Day view.
Day mode displays details about each event happening that day, as well as options for that event. You can sign up for an event or remove yourself from the guest list for an event you have previously added to your personal calendar. Click on an event's title to reveal these functions.
Please note that some events may have additional costs or registration procedures associated with them. Make sure to check with the event organizer to see what specific tasks you must do (if any) to make sure you are registered for a particular event. Simply because you are able to get on the guest list for an event does NOT necessarily mean that you are registered to attend.
Also note that personalization features (e.g. submitting an event or signing up for an event) are only available to logged-in users.
Types of Calendars
Your personal calendar lists all public and group events for which you are on the guest list, and also allows you to add your own private calendar items. You may reach your personal calendar by navigating to "My Profile --> My Calendar."
Group calendars are only visible to group members. They contain all events scheduled for a particular group.
Global events are visible to all members. Their attendance may be public or private and the event creator is permitted to approve or deny other users for inclusion on the guest list. The global calendar or events can be reached by navigating to "Events --> Calendar of Events."
AJAX
PassageMaker.com calendars use a new technology called Asynchronous Javascript And XML (AJAX). AJAX allows for faster page load times because only the information you need is requested from the server (instead of loading up the entire page). AJAX-enabled pages also do not navigate like traditional web pages. The current page changes to reflect the new content, without loading a whole new page. Therefore, the back button will NOT work on AJAX-enabled pages (because the current page is only changing; you are not visiting a new page).
