08:30 AM - 05:30 PM
Presented by Steve D’Antonio, PassageMaker’s Technical Editor, Ships’ Systems Stem to Stern is an intensive, interactive two day seminar that will familiarize you with the major systems aboard your vessel, from propellers and shafts to fiberglass construction and plumbing systems. The seminar will assist attendees in identifying problems and defects before they become costly or dangerous failures in vessels they own or intend to buy. Attendees will also be guided in techniques and language that should be used when tasking those working on their boats. While the first day of the class will cover a variety of vessel gear, equipment and systems, the second day will emphasize the electrical aspects of cruising vessels, from battery and charging systems to AC shore power, safety and corrosion concerns as well as fault analysis and failure prevention. The course is designed for both beginners and experienced cruisers alike, discussion and questions are encouraged throughout the presentation.

Robert SweetKona Kai Resort
08:30 AM - 05:30 PM
This ONE-DAY course is offered Thursday, March 4, 2010. Close quarters maneuvering can be a real challenge and a bit stressful. Unfortunately, you have little time and room for mistakes. This one-day workshop will help you visualize what your boat is about to do and why. With this in mind, you will be better able to plan and execute your maneuvers. Each attendee will have up to an hour at the helm practicing docking/close quarter techniques with a certified instructor while other attendees observe as well as spend some time in the classroom. While every boat is a bit unique, understanding the underlying factors will help you get the most out of your boat and increase your comfort level. Learn skills and drills you can practice on both land and water, as well as techniques on how to formulate a docking plan, how to handle the wind and current, and how to plan for stern in, bow in, and pier docking situations. Class will run 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4. All learning materials will be provided, as will lunch. Class size is limited to sixteen, so you must register in advance by phone or online.
