A Couple's Trawler Global Circumnavigation Story: Afternoon Activity

Christi Grab
02:30 PM - 03:00 PM
No one expected these thirty-something professionals to give up their successful careers to pilot their own small boat around the world, especially because they started with almost no boating experience. Instead of the expected sailboat, they chose a 43 foot trawler power boat. Most people expected them to fail. But they surprised the skeptics when they successfully circumnavigated the globe in 2 years. Learn about what it took to prepare for the trip, including common obstacles that tend to stop people from attempting such a voyage. En route, they visited 110 places in 34 countries. See a summary of the destinations and hear about some of the highlights. Eric and Christ Grab both grew up in Southern California. They both went to San Diego State University. Both were extremely career driven and successful in the respective lines of work. Prior to dating, neither had a boating background of any kind. In 2000, they bought a 28 foot sedan cruiser, but didn't use it much. After a family tragedy, the couple decided to stop waiting until retirement to fulfill their personal dreams. In trying to figure out how to best combine their respective dreams, the circumnavigation plan evolved. For more information on them, their boat, and their around the world journey, visit http://kosmos.liveflux.net/blog.
