Quite a few members of the North American trawler community have managed to get their boats to the Mediterranean Sea. This section is where we file their stories. The ancient poet Homer called the Mediterranean the “wine-dark sea,” and indeed every port will treat the thirsty cruiser to its own interpretation of the grape as an accompaniment to the local Med cuisine. As Homer implies, the waters here run as deep as the history. The Med is bordered by three continents and 22 countries and contains thousands of islands.
