Chesapeake Bay

Power cruisers love the Chesapeake Bay, and this section is where we file their many stories. Tied with Florida as the nation’s most popular cruising ground, the Chesapeake is a diverse mixture of urban, suburban and rural destinations—From Baltimore, to Annapolis and St. Michaels, all the way down to Norfolk. Some cruisers make a side-trip up the Potomac to spend some time visiting Washington, D.C. The regional cuisine runs to oysters and crabs, and this region is where the southbound cruiser first encounters boiled shrimp.
