MarineMax Pompano Beach successfully delivered the first Magellano 76 to American waters Tuesday afternoon.
A big day for the folks at the company's Clearwater, Florida, headquarters, the 76 fills a niche in the american trawler market by aiming to mix luxe, European styling with hardcore cruising-range and seaworthiness.
Designed byKen Freivokh, the 76 is the largest offering in Azimut's Magellano lineup of long-range trawlers. The word "trawler" may apply lightly in the Magellano's case, as in typical euro-tradition the boats offer a level of speed and comfort not found in many long-range competitors.
“The new owner of the Magellano 76 already appreciated the Azimut penchant for quality and innovation, having owned a new Azimut 55S prior to purchasing the 76,” explained Mike Bader, Senior Sales Executive at MarineMax Pompano Yacht Center. “After purchasing the 55S, he quickly realized that as much as he loved his Azimut, he wanted more and shopped all the brands for a larger yacht.
Powered by twin 1,000 horsepower V8 MANs, the 76 can reach a top cruising speed of 22 knots with the throttles wide open. Back the 76 down to her 11 knot cruise however and the efficient hull-design coupled with the 2,000 gallon fuel tank provides nearly endless range for those seeking distant ports of call.
According to MarineMax, no comfort was spared to owners of the 76. The full-beam, mid-ship owner’s stateroom features a centerline double berth and an en-suite shower and head. Forward leads to the VIP stateroom which also has a centerline double berth and en-suite shower and head. Each guest stateroom (2) have twin beds with separate shower and head compartments. Accommodations for the crew are in the double cabin under the cockpit deck.
Those wishing to get a peek at the new cruising giant need look no father than America's Northeast.
“The new owners will soon be experiencing all the comfort and luxury that the Magellano 76 provides as they embark on a summer cruise to New York this weekend,” added Bader. “The beautiful and unique Italian style along with being the only Magellano 76 [currently] cruising in the U.S., will make it stand out along the way.”
