In January of 2012, cruising-couple Darren and Lisa O'Brien launched PacificNWBoater.com, a website dedicated to sharing the joys and experience of cruising the Pacific Northwest with fellow cruisers.

The website hosts a slew of information for boaters of the area including classifieds, boat and product reviews, and a series of video cruising guides to the San Juan Islands.

"We 'partnered' with Washington State Parks (they did not pay us) to create video cruising guides to all the marine parks in the system," O'Brien wrote in an e-mail. "Volume 1 - the San Juan Islands, debuted at this year’s Seattle Boat Show. We are currently working on Volume 2 - Puget Sound & Hood Canal, which will contain another 22 video cruising guides."

With a background in TV production, Darren produced and directed Latitudes & Attitudes TV from 2005 - 2011, the couple currently lives and works aboard their Cheoy Lee 46 LRC trawler

The video series is available on a 20-episode, 95-minute DVD that is available from www.PacificNWBoater.com. Many of the videos produced by the couple are also available for free via the their YouTube outlet.

"5% of each DVD sale is being donated back to the parks, as we want to do our part to insure these incredible marine parks will still be around when our soon-to-be four-year old daughter has her own boat," said O'Brien
