Seattle-based Argosy Cruises has been hard at work with local boat-owners to organize tomorrow's Parade of Boats on Lake Union.
According to the company's website, those who would like to watch the first Christmas Ship performance (which begins at 7:45 PM) of the night and see the parade vessels at the very start of the parade, should watch from the NW Dock at Fishermen's Terminal (Google Map).
From there the parade follows route through the Fremont Cut, providing a great spectator location from Fremont Canal Park (Google Map). The Burke-Gilman Trail is an easy access point by bike or on foot. Similarly, on the south side of the Fremont Cut, West Ewing Mini Park sits at the end of 3rd Avenue West (Google Map). And the South Ship Canal Trail parallels the parade route.
For those who would like to participate, there is still time to register your boat to part-take in the parade and any planning to do so MUST register your boat using the for provided here. Both Sail and Power boat are welcome.
In addition to the parade show, judges will be present (located at the midway point, just after the Fremont Cut and before Lake Union) to give out several holiday themed awards for participating boats. Some categories include:
1. - Peoples' Choice Award (method of tallying votes TBA)
2. - Best In Show
3. - Best Seahawks 12's Boat Theme
4. - Best Santa, Reindeer Christmas Theme
5. - Most Overall Christmas Lights with Holiday Spirit
6. - Best Holiday Decorated Powerboat
7. - Best Holiday Decorated Sailboat
8. - Best Holiday Decorated Commercial Vessel
