Hydroplane racing legend Lee Edward Hanauer, or "Chip" as he is commonly know around the Pacific Northwest now runs a popular website called The Boat Guy that provides light hearted commentary on all things marine from one of the fastest men to ever float.
In addition to the everyday happenings online, The Boat Guy is hosting a Viking themed Winter Rendezvous, inviting Pacific Northwest Cruisers to join in on the fun. Attendees are promised food, fun and a chance to let out their inner Norse form February 7th to the 9th at the Moorage at the Port of Poulsbo in Poulsbo, Wa.
Tickets are limited to 250 people and cost $75 per person and can be purchased through www.theboatguy.com.
Rounding out their first year in operation, the fledgling website features monthly photo contests, blog post and Chip's popular video series that chronicles his adventures both on the water and on the docks.
"For me, boating is about people more than anything else. Being on the water, on a boat, changes everything, especially your attitude, the moment you shove off," writes Hanauer on his blog. "I can’t tell you what exactly makes that happen, but it happens. Maybe it’s the beauty, the camaraderie, the excitement, or perhaps the way the water fills all of your senses. What I do know is that people are transformed when they float."
Be sure to keep an eye out for The Boat Guy videos appearing in the Lifestyles section of PassageMaker's website in the coming weeks and drop us a comment to let us know what you think.
